The Walk of Fame
Hollywood was founded in 1887 when Harvey Wilcox registered his 160 acres of land with the Los Angeles County Recorder's office. The Wilcoxes were religious teetolders who envisioned their new community as a Christian utopia where vice would be banned. By 1910, Hollywood went from being its own municipality to an incorporated district of Los Angeles. And by 1911, the first of many film studios in the area were built.
