In 1912, Edmund LeCard's theory of forensic science was vindicated. He proved that fingerprints and DNA were not enough to convict Emile Gobann in Marie Latel's murder. The evidence he found under Gobann's fingernails included human skin cells. Since then, LeCard's Exchange Principle has been the bedrock of forensic science.
