The Rise and Fall of John Chambers

John Chambers was the CEO of Cisco at the time. He went through a phase where he kept telling all of like his, you know, his senior staff or his lieutenants that he'd only be there for one more year. And then six months later, he'd be like, well, the board said they really want me to stick around for another two or three more years. People were like, Oh crap, I don't get to be CEO and they would leave. The after the bubble stuff was really kind of like a Harvard Business School thing of like, what do you do when you have no competition?
