The Unsub of Anna Montes
When you have an individual that you don't know who, but you know that there's been a crime committed until you identify that individual we refer to those cases as unsubbs. Unsub is a snappy contraction of unknown subjects. At the time, Anna Montes was a ghost. Nameless, featureless, even, genderless. The Cubans went to great lengths to disguise her gender. And the FBI didn't have much to go on. We knew we had a penetration within the US government. The unsub was either at the FBI, at the CIA, or at the Department of Defense.
