Building Trust as a Board Member

I've noticed everyone likes to have an opinion on boards. And sometimes it causes the real meat of the issues not to be addressed. How do you go about building trust as a board, both with the founders and then also with other board members? I think trust comes from lots of different places. It depends on the personalities involved and the way the interactions unfold.
