The Problem With Access Deer in Hawaii
Hawaii is trying to incentivize and help lower numbers of access deer. Non-profits were not allowed to donate game meat to under-resourced communities, including the homeless. Governor Josh Green just signed a law saying that now you can donate to meat. Hawaii has very low food autonomy. And they don't have a lot of in-state capabilities to process meat. But they're sitting on some 60,000 access deer, plus wild hogs, goats, and sheep.
