Synthesis of a Thiosa Butle

Sholgen spent a huge amount of time figuring out how to stereo selectively synthesize the four secbutal emphetimenes. He ended up doing this kind of bizarre chemistry that is detailed in his dissertation, but it was very much trivial and that was just one of the things that he was working on. The whole four se butle thing is very interesting to me, and i think it even inspired sholgen. There's a really cool section in pikon where sholgen was attempting to synthesize a compound that he never finished called two c t 17.
