The Effects of Carbohydrates on Alzheimer's Disease

A diet that's rich in carbohydrates and specially simple carbohydrates is one that ultimately leads to insulin resistance and elevated blood sugar. The brain absolutely does not tolerate elevations of blood sugar, even subtle elevations of it. Those whose diets favored higher levels of fat as a calorie source actually had about a 44% reduction in risk for Alzheimer's disease.
