Is There a Self Awareness Necessary in Society?

89, this is sounding a lot like some, some liberalism. I think the idea of liberalism is that everyone is well informed and they are good,. you know, responsible civic members of whatever state they fall under. But in practice, it just evolves into some kind of corrupt oligarchy. Except, depending on which extremist you ask, a corrupt oligarchy might be better.
