Is There a Failure Mode of Reasoning?
People who like put a lot of emphasis on reason to the to the detriment of intuition that they especially when they they're following sort of chains of logic with multiple steps in them. I see people making kind of extreme life decisions based on these chains of reasoning without recognizing the inherent uncertainty in their logic. There are interesting there's interesting ways to defend that famous Holmes quote that you know once you have eliminated the possible etc for instance back in 1964 John Platt published these landmark paper this lemon article in science magazine which is one of the classics of philosophy of science.
