The Importance of System Two
People say that system one is not just irrational, but not actually particularly useful. If we were super beings, then we could just do everything in system two and wouldn't it be nice if we could just toss system one? Well, there are many activities that we don't want to think about that we want to be able to carry out without effort. So the idea of if we were running on system two most of the time, we would be so slow. Just imagine thinking about as you walk impossible.
