We've Only Had 10 Paid Upgrades in 20 Years
We've only had 10 paid upgrades in 20 years. That's fewer and further between than I would have thought for a successful continually thriving software concern. We were definitely a little stingy with with version numbers in part because we have the idea that we've pretty much followed there may be one or two exceptions but basically if it gets a new version number that will be a paid upgrade. If you add substantial new functionality that is making the product better that's something that you should have to pay for, he says.
