Eating straight table sugar is good for tongue burns, but they couldn't think of a scientific reason for that to be true. Some people talk about putting butter on burns, but that would probably make it worse, not better because the layer of fat would prevent it from breathing. There would be no reason to put sugar on a burn. I don't know why people would think to do that, but you shouldn't.
