Griffith's War on the Seas
The kings of gwynneth may have viewed their duties as being tied to power on the sea, or at least in maintaining a naval force. Early in griffith's reign, he engaged in multiple campaigns over land. His campaigns against his neighbors led him to fighting battles in the mountainous regions of central wales. But eventually things took a turn when he fought with king hoole of dehibarth. King hoole had gathered a mercenary fleet from ireland, and their influence made gruffith's campaign to annex the southern welsh quite difficult. And that fleet continued to be a problem for griffith until it was sunk in ten 52.
