There are less people and institutions that pay for polls. The other side of it is telephones. Back in the day, you could just call somebody's house and they would pick it up. In our cell phone era, people don't want to do that. We filter out all but exactly. I have an app on my phone now that overscreens because the spam calls were getting so bad on my cell phone. And I do think that that has had a material degradation of polls in general. They are as useful as counting yard signs.
