How to Find Far Away Planets With a Magnetic Field
Magnetic fields are invisible which makes them hard to see, especially on planets outside our solar system. Professor Jackie Villadson has been working on a new technique for finding far away planets that might have their own magnetic field. We use radio wavelength telescopes such as the very large array in New Mexico which is what we use to observe the star YZ SETI-B. By combining together the radio waves picked up by all of the 27 satellite dishes, you can create a photograph of the sky using radio waves.
