The Ethics of Predation in the Wild

The behavior usually takes place towards the end of the prediction sequence. It's usually triggered by very close proximity of or contact from the predator. And therefore, it's ethically challenging to study this in the lab and logistically challenging to observe out in the field. I think moving forwards, we want to be looking at technologies like remote controlled prey or onboard tracking cameras for animals in the wild.
