Sasse's Relationship to the Orient
Ernest Renin was a self-identified philologist, which Sade defines as the capacity to see reality in nature clearly. He sought to systematize or schematize its insights and to establish its intellectual and worldly institutions. So whereas Sasse was just trying to compile a manageable and digestible image of the Orient, Renin comes in and he says, well, we can go further than this. We can put the Orient under the microscope.
