It is ironic that the same kinds of people who will often criticize the Western academic curriculum as Eurocentric often engage in profoundly Eurocentric, America-centric storytelling. If you only paid attention to mainstream center-left media in America, you would have no idea that America was literally one of the most pro-immigration countries on Earth. It's coming from what I consider a laudable sentiment, this kind of self-critical urge that in many ways is part of what makes America great.
