For Jesus, the Old Testament was dynamic, not static. There's an inertia to it, a forward motion. And for Jesus, this is like the killer point. For Jesus, it is reaching its climax in and through his life. That is a staggering claim to make. Well, this is a story. It's all leading up to something. What? Me.
