Health Care Outside of Prison Could Save a Lot of Lives

People who are incarcerated for a year have about a 15% lower likely to have having died after five years. But the message of this paper, I don't think is that incarceration is good. It's really much more about what's happening outside of prison than what's happening inside of it. And so if we could have better extension of health care services, particularly to this population that has a very high risk of mortality outside of prison, this potentially could save a lot of lives.
