The Thesis of Thomistic Realism
Thomistic Realism is based on St. Thomas Aquinas' mind-world identity theory concerning cognition. John McDowell, for instance, agrees with Aquinas that there is no ontological gap between the sort of thing one can think and the type of thing that can be the case. The world's existence as well as its structure are independent of human minds. Our perception and knowledge of the mind-independent world is direct rather than indirect.
