What's Your Philosophy About Communism?

I think the obsession with material equality forgets really what the deeper egalitarian impulse is. Minor material inequalities that are far short of what would create, say, esteem hierarchies or some kind of plutocracy are really not much to be worried about. I don't even find it actually egalitarian. If you have to have a totalitarian, authoritarian government to establish absolute material equality in terms of our consumption possibilities, right? You're not in an egalitarian society. You're in some kind of the totalitarian society. It's just suffocating to have to adjust your behavior constantly to so many people.
