The Importance of Gay Marriage in American Culture
There's no, I mean, I remember being in the battles over sexual ethics in the Episcopal Church in the 1990s. And I could see that normalizing homosexuality was a way of underlining the sexual revolution and saying we're in favor of the relaxation of sexual norms for heterosexuals. So it kind of functioned in a very powerful symbolic way.
