Many sources also credit our good, close personal friend, benjamin, benny franklin. They credit him with being the first to suggest seasonal time change. The idea voiced by the american inventor and politician in 17 84 can not really be described as the same idea as daylight saving time. It did not involve turning the clocks. In a letter to the editor of the journal of paris, which was entitled an economical project to diminishing the cost of light, franklin simply suggested that parisians could economize candle sage by getting people out of bed earlier in the morning. Also, he meant it as a joke.
