Can Women Initiate a Divorce?

In the wider Greco-Roman world, which Jews followed for the most part in terms of the way they understood marriage, there wasn't a state-granted certificate. A woman could not execute a document into a court without having a male guardian signature. So yes, she could initiate it, but she had to do it in line with a man also signing.
