The Horror of a Motel Room Fire

My uncle had already been alerted of the fire and he's been ringing the motel's phone like crazy. He then asked me to check on the actual damage before the fire department showed, which was still going to be a while. I realized someone had arranged a bunch of stuff around the room. They were clothes, kid clothes, and interspersed among them were what looked like kids drawings. The drawings were of kids in cages or sad crying kids with big angry looking grown ups towering over them.
