Is Escapism the Future for California?

Tyler Durden: I go back to science fiction to resolve all such questions and Neil Stevenson's snow crash still seems to me the best visualization of what a world with a metaverse would look like. And so, in a California of the future which has a public squalor but of course private affluence. The thunder class uses the metaverse to escape from their basically ghastly lives. That seems to me like a still a quite plausible vision of where we're heading Tyler.
