The Whole Brain Death Criteria

The American Academy of Neurology publishes guidelines for determining brain death and they have a step by step by step process. Last year there were over 10,000 donors in the United States. There were roughly 2,500 to 3,000 additional brain death exams that did not result in donation. All of those occurred without an incident.
