Do You Think About Portfolio Construction?
Most of the time people will make 10 to 20 investments before they hit something that works. Some people are operators of scale while some invest late or some people just invest late either way. If you're only investing early, you need a big enough portfolio that the outlier will help dominate because otherwise you'll lose all your money. So usually the advice is do 10 to20 investments roughly do them the same check size. And hopefully you'll hit at least one or two things that work really well so they more than cover up all the failures that will undoubtedly exist in a normal portfolio.
