In the year 1200 we had about 400 million people on the planet and today we're pushing what about 8 billion people. The modes of killing have undoubtedly increased because now we have high tech modes of killing people. So it's a very hard argument to make that we're all somehow better off just because there's more people or maybe because you can live a little bit longer thanks to certain life extending technologies.
