The Prison Massacres of 1988
The 1988 prison massacres at that point, he is already established himself as a thorn in the side of Khomeini and the other members of the IRP who want to keep all of this stuff under wraps. There's actually some evidence that the plan for the executions predates the end of the war. Ebrachim Raisi, the current president of the Islamic Republic, also played a leading role in the 1988 prison massacres.
