Motiya were remarkably progressive so one of the things I remember very clearly is that they had taken a position that we will not attend any wedding in which dowry is exchanged. They didn't go because it was a principal stand that we have not exchanged dowry nobody is in our family has exchanged dowry and we will not go to a wedding where dowry has been exchanged. My grandmother established her library the first ever library in Remukpur she called it the Hindavachanalei, VachAnalei's library Hindustan India.
Her pioneering work has helped us understand how caste and gender remain huge problems in India. But her past goes beyond numbers, into a rich history of aajobas and aajis and theatre and song.
