Commodity prices are a leading indicator of the economy, but commodity prices slightly lead the s m p. Things like the inventory sales ratio are a leading indicators. They lead the stock market, just slightly coincident or leading, but they lead the conomy. So you start to create a sequence of leading indicators. Some leading indicators lead the market by a year, some by nine months, some by six months and others by one month. But if everybody's looking at price action, you've got no edge. You're competing with everybody who's looking at prices action. Why compete when you can have the whole market for yourself?
