In the 19th century, hunter gatherer societies ate a very robust mixture of plant and animal sources. For one individual to be a preventing scurvy, they would be needing to eat the eyeball equivalent of one point five seals a day per person in this community. We've probably overestimated how much were covering their animal base food sources through purely land based vegetation.
