Is the Computer a Metaphor?

In traditional theories, you would have the visual system performing color processing that's associated with what you see. But in incognitive science, when you think about the meaning of yellow, that's actually represented in a separate system. It seems much more parsimonious to thinkthat there's a whole other system. I feel like we often, at least in the public discourse, still hear the old computer a metaphor.
