Lacan: I think it may be in the first line of the book that every, in their afterlife, every thinker undergoes a catastrophe. And I think Freud's is ego psychology, right? And Nietzsche's is probably not a thing of that, which is probably worse. But Hegel's is this divide, I think, into right and left. Right wing thought is an attempt to find harmony, attempt to overcome contradiction. The essence of left wing thinking is, no, we have to bring the contradiction to a head. It not so as to solve it, but so as to reconcile. We're going to get rid of our intractable contradictions by reconciling them with each other
