Manlius and the Senate

Manlius tried to make himself king by conspiring with grain merchants. The state controller of supplies, a man named minutius, learned about the plot and went straightway to the senate. In a moment, cincinnatus sent his master of horse to fetch manleus and bring him forward for a trial. Manlius attempted to resist the summons but was cut down where he stood.
