The Importance of Explicit Memory
The brain is bringing a gazillion number of different things together in the same way that we'd say, yeah, I listened to Beethoven's 5th Symphony last night. Well you did, but what you really listened to was a collection of multiple instrumentalists over a period of time. With all that encoding then comes this next form of memory that we call explicit and because we are actually making the implicit explicit.
