The Importance of Being Objective

I think we all respond badly to people that we know are living in a way that's different than ourselves. So it's easier to bring them down than to acknowledge that you're falling short. You interpret their goodness implicitly as a challenge to your own. The other thought that I did have is, I wonder if it's a little bit like Edmund and the food that they ate at the Beavers. They've somehow lost their ability to appreciate things that are really good.
