The Structure of the Military Units in the Civil War
The militias were initially organized by these defense committees, which were answerable to the anarchist organizations. The structures of the CNT don't map onto the militia units exactly in the sense that the militia units replicate those organizational forms. But the militias are, at least to an extent, answerable to a regional organization, to the CNT. So, you know, there's some sort of democratic oversight, if you like.
