The Instinct and the Intelligence of Life

Bergson believed that the laws of things like physics and chemistry cannot adequately describe or account for all that goes on in this life process. The idea was that both physics and chemistry are scientific approaches towards understanding how the material world operates. To try to use our understanding of matter to make sweeping claims about our understanding of life would just be too far of a reach to Bergson.
