American Psycho: A Review
The movie doesn't valorize that desperation. Chevy plays him like a sleazy bachelor who's at once trying to reconnect the passion he lost with his wife and also making eyes at the hot blonde in a Ferrari. His actions are directly contradictory to his intent of reconnecting with his family. Basically, he's a high-functioning psychopath. He's driven exclusively by pride and self-interest. The man has no moral compass. What if Rusty grew up to be Patrick Bateman? Oh, I like that. Are we really, we gotta do our sequel show?"
