The Reframing of the Silk Road

I think what China is definitely doing is reframing how we think about the Silk Road so you pointed out that from Europe it's often seen as seen as an East West history. Now the degree to which that becomes internationally visible is an interesting question. There have been a series of documentaries made by the western media countries such as National Geographic and others that now recent to the Silk Road story around China. But again at the beginning I use the word orientalist and that must be a source of objection to a lot of what you're discussing.
