"Cold Open" is about a young woman's struggle with anxiety. The film was written and edited by writer-director Hannah Gadsden. She says the biggest challenge was balancing her mom character, "Her like meanness, I guess towards towards the lead." It also had to balance how mean she should be in order for it to make sense on screen.
