Is There a Productivity Problem?
We have become much more productive, at least by many measures, in recent times. How's that worked out for us, as regards to what I might call the quality of life? Perhaps, we actually do now have a productivity problem. This is an instance of a great philosophical principle expressed so well by Plato and Aristotle. If you treat as higher or more important, that which is in fact less important, not only will you lose what is more important, you will destroy what is less important. Need I give the obvious example in our society? We have prioritized bodily pleasure, and we're really bad at it.
