Ingress was a success, kind of a underground success. I played it when I was a much perversion of myself and there were factions. There is something to the simplicity and roundness and cartoonishness of the Pokemon that makes it appealing and makes people remember them. It sort of gets reintroduced that way. That is what brings people to the game.
