The Third Son of a Japanese American
Fred was in unique position as the third son. Unlike his older brothers, he didn't speak much Japanese and he felt more American than anything else. He decided not to go with his family when they were ordered to evacuate after Pearl Harbor. Fred knew that his older brothers would be able to take care of the family. They said he was a grownup and he should make his own decisions.
