Shenandoah Connor said Peter Gabriel tried to shag Kate Bush and she wasn't having any. Dolly Parton was apparently his first choice for a duet partner, which I can see because he wrote Don't Give Up after seeing photos taken by Dorothea Lange of families trying to survive in the Great Depression. A lot has been made of her sort of increasingly long time between albums and her relatively slim Discography. But she gave birth to her son, Birdie in 1998.
