The English Nobility - A Return to Form

The English nobility under King Harold Godwinson was a return to form. They were the courageous, duty-bound things that we've grown familiar with. But courage and sense of duty was why so many of them died at Hastings rather than fleeing to regroup. The new local leaders no longer saw any romance in a suicide charge. And on the occasions where the English nobility did make a show of force, all too often, when pressed, they'd buckle.
